Read the entire FAQ page.
Seriously, I mean it. Ignorance is no excuse.
Register as a user of the site
You must
register before you can contribute to the site. (
N.B. Your username must be a
Wiki Name.) After you register, click on the "new users" link in the menu on the top of every page, find your name click on that link, then add some stuff about you on your user page. (Be sure to add
Category Users to the page in order to be linked on the
main users page.)

Read over the
Meta Categories page to see how categories are used on
The Directorium.
Check out the available templates
Category Template has templates for the various types of pages.
Create the page
To create your listing page, simply add the title to the end of this URL:
http://directorium.org∞
(It'll look something like this:
http://directorium.org/PageNameHere∞)
N.B. Page names CANNOT contain punctuation or spaces.
For example, the title of my site is Aithine.org, therefore I made the URL for my site's page
http://directorium.org/AithineDotOrg∞
If a page with that name
does not exist, you will be directed to a page that says
This page doesn't exist yet. Maybe you want to create it? Click on the "create" link and you will be sent to a page with a big text box in which you can start putting the information about your site.
The icons above the text box are there to help you with common coding needs (bolding, italics, links, headers, images, etc.). Questions about the coding used by the wiki are answered on the
formatting instructions page.
If the page name has already been used, you can alter your page title by adding Roman numerals to the end of it (similar to what IMDb does with actors, etc., who have the same name). For example, if there were two sites with the same name of Aithine.org and I was the second person to use the title, I would make the physical name for my listing page
Aithine.org (II).
If you are creating a new page for a fandom and there have been several incarnations of the same show with the exact same name, please use the year as part of the page name for the reincarnation(s). For example:
Battlestar Galactica and
Battlestar Galactica (2003) refer to the original series from 1978 and the newer version on the SciFi Channel respectively.
The Magnificent Seven refers to the movie from 1960 while
The Magnificent Seven (1998) refers to the television series.
Add information about your site to the listing.
At a very minimum, the listing for your site should probably include:
- The site URL
- The site name
- The names of all authors/artists/vidders/etc. whose work is available on the site (if you're running an archive, don't even attempt this unless you really want to *bg*)
- The fandoms and pairings for the work represented on the site
- The genres for the work represented on the site.
Remember that the more complete the information is that you include on your listing, the better chance people will have of finding your site when they're looking for fannish works for a specific fandom. A few suggestions include:
- Use complete character names, not abbreviations. You may know that you meant you only wrote Fraser/Ray Kowalski stories when you put Fraser/Ray as the description, but people maybe confused as to which Ray you meant (Ray Vecchio or Ray Kowalski?) because you only stated Fraser/Ray.
- Use complete fandom names, not abbreviations. You may know you meant Deadwood when you put DW down as a fandom, but other people might think you meant Doctor Who.
Remember, the goal is to make your site available to the people who
want to see what you've written/drawn/vidded,
not to force them to see something about fandoms or characters they don't want to have anything to do with.
An example of how to organize a listing page is available for
Aithine.org.

Reread the entire FAQ page and double check your listing page to ensure it complies with the site's policies.
Don't even try the "I didn't know that!" whining when I've banned you from the site because you're not able to follow simple instructions about what can and cannot be included in the listings on this site.
