Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel

The Buffyverse began with Joss Whedon's 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer, although the film itself is not considered Buffy canon, as the final version released deviated considerably from Whedon's original vision. He was able to realize that vision with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series, which ran from 1997 to 2003. In 1999, the characters Angel, Cordelia, and Wesley left BtVS's Sunnydale to move to Los Angeles for the Angel spinoff (1999 to 2004). A number of supporting characters also appeared in both series, and Spike and Harmony joined the crew of Angel full-time for its final season. Several published novels and comic books have also been set in the 'verse.
